LILY ROSE PETUNIA

The debut album by

THE VINCE ROGERS PROJECT

Release date: Mon 17th Sept 2007

Doublekiss Records XX 001

The Vince Rogers Project is a new electronica duo, based in London, formed in Spring 2007. They are Sam Duffy on vocals and Vince Rogers on keys and programming.

Vince was part of 80’s electronic bands Testcard F and Gee Mr Tracy. Londoners may also remember Vince from his time as a reporter on Carlton TV’s London Tonight. For a reminder see here.

Sam has long experience fronting covers bands, and working as a musician playing saxophone in groups, orchestras and saxophone quartets.

Lily Rose Petunia is a home made album, lovingly crafted by hand and bypassing conventional record companies. It was recorded on a PC in a bedroom with many breaks for cups of tea and creative discussions in the garden.

The result is refreshingly different, a mixture of orchestral and electronic sounds overlaid with a range of vocal styles and harmonies commenting on the vagaries of modern life – the loneliness of MySpace “80 Million Friends”, people’s reactions to 7/7 “We’re Not Afraid” or the desire to be remembered “Bouquet on a Lamppost”. Imagine Kraftwerk meets Vivaldi meets Ute Lemper.

The Vince Rogers Project has been playing small venues around London and the songs have had an encouraging response. The next gigs are:

Mon 10 Sept 07: The Klinker Club @ The Vortex, 11 Gillett St, London N16 8JH onstage 9.30pm.

Tues 18 Sept 07: The Betsey Trotwood, 56 Farringdon Rd, London EC1 onstage 10.00pm.
